GALILEO GALILEI

Galileo Galile was born in 1564 in the city of Pisa, Italy. About twenty years later he attended the University of Pisa. At the first, he wanted to become a doctor, but while he was there he became interested in Science and decided to became a scientist. In 1592, a year after his father’s death, the University of Padua invited him to be a professor of Mathematics. He stayed there for 19 years, where he became interested in the stars. He made an instrument which made far away things look larger and easier to examine. This way called the telescope. It could make things look thirty-two times as big as they looked the eye. Galileo could see many stars through his telescope and began to study the stars and other things in the sky.

NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS!

Last week I went to my sister’s school to see her performance in a drama. First, I looked for the best seat in the school hall. Then, I sat and waited patiently for the drama. As soon as the drama started, I tried to concentrate on the performance. The drama was good but I did not enjoy it. Two children were sitting behind me and they were talking loudly. I got very angry because I could not hear the conversations. So, I turned my head and looked at them angrily. They did not pay any attention and kept on talking. Finally, I turned round again and said angrily that I could not hear a word.

To my surprise they told me that It was none of my business. I thought they did not understand. What I was tring to say was that I couldn’t hear the drama not their conversation.

OUR TRIP TO THE BLUE MOUNTAIN

On Friday, e went to the blue mountain. We stayed at David and Della’s house. It had a big garden with lots of colorful flowers and tennis court.

On Saturday we saw the ‘three sisters’ rock formation and went to the scenic railway. It was scary. Then, Mummy and I went shopping with Della. We went to some antique shops and I tried on some old hats.

On Sunday, we went on scenic skyway and it rocked. We saw cockatoos having a shower. In the afternoon we went home.

CATS!

            One day my brother and I were playing badminton behind our house when I saw a cat on our mango tree. It looked scared and we thought it couldn’t get down. So, we decided to do something.

            First I helped my brother to climb the tree and helped. He reached the cat and passed it to me. It was difficult because the tree was so high. When my brother begins to come down, a branch broke. He couldn’t move up or down. I went inside the house and asked dad to help my brother. Then, he borrowed a ladder from our neighbor and helped my brother down. As soon as my father left, the cat climbed the tree again.

            This time we didn’t try to help.

Thomas Alva Edison

Thomas Alva Edison was one of the greatest inventors of all time. He lived from 1847 until 1931.

He was born in Milan, Ohio, in1847. In was 12, he got very sick. As result, he became partially deaf. He attended school for only three months there. So, his mother taught him reading, writing, and arithmetic.

In 1862, Edison saved a boy from being run over by a train. The boy’s father operated a telegraph machine. As thanks, the father taught Edison how to operate the telegraph. Later, Edison made improvement to the telegraph.

In 1867, Edison started the first industrial research laboratory at Menlo Park, New Jersew. One of his inventions is the long-lasting light bulb.

Thomas Alva Edison died in 1931. When he died all electric current in the country was turned off.

Although he did not have enough formal education and was deaf, he became a famous inventor. Once he said “Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration”.

Language Features :

• A personal recount uses past tense
• A personal recount also uses connectors to put the events in order. 
• A personal recount describes events. So, there are many action verb or action words used. 
• A personal recount use mainly first person pronoun ( I or We )
