what is naraative text?

A Narrative text is a text that tells a story and entertains the audience. The purpose of narrative text, other than providing entertainment, can be to make the audience think about issue, teach them a lesson, or excite their emotions.

Examples narrative texts include:
  • Myths 
  • Fairytales 
  • Aboriginal Dreaming stories 
  • Science Fiction 
  • Historical Fiction 
  • Romance Novel 
Generic Structure
  1. Orientation : introduction of characters, time, setting and place. 
  2. Complication: problem, complic by characters. 
  3. Resolution: describes the solution to the complication and gives an ending to the story. 
Language features

  1. Specific participants or characters
  2. The use of past tense
  3. The use of past continuous tense
  4.  A lot of action verbs 
  5. Some relational verbs to describe the characters and setting
  6. Many connective or conjunctions to sequence the story
