REPORT TEXT

A report text tries to present information about an entire class of thing or animal.
Examples:
·         Mammals,
·         Transport, and
·         Document.
Generic Structure:
1.      General classification (introducing the thing that will be described/often definition)
2.      Description (sequence facts the about various aspect of the class of thing or animal such as part, habit, and behavior)

Language Futures:
1.      Use the general nouns, e.g. hunting dog, rather than particular noun, e.g. our dog
2.      Use of relating verb to describe features, e.g. Molecules is tiny particles.
3.      Use of action verb when describing behavior, e.g. Emus cannot fly.
4.      Use of timeless present tense to indicate usualness, e.g. Tropical Cyclones always begins over the sea.
5.      Use of technical term, e.g. Isobars is lines draw on a weather map.
6.      Use of paragraph with topic sentence to organize bundles of information; repeated naming of the topic as the beginning focus of the class.
